The Cardigans to perform at the Hultsfred Festival in 2012

Hultsfredsfestivalen 2012 proudly presents The Cardigans play Gran Turismo.

 

We can hereby reveal an exclusive one-off show, where The Cardigans at the swedish Hultsfredsfestivalen will be playing throughout the album Gran Turismo.

It is the first time in the band's career they implement something similar, and the whole thing is extremely gratifying for us as the initiative and the proposal comes from the organizer.

 

The Cardigans released Gran Turismo 1998 and the album was at the time described as daring, as the band clearly departured from their previous musical profile. With songs like My Favourite Game, Erase/Rewind and a in great parts new sound Gran Turismo came to sell more than 2.5 million copies worldwide.

 

The band expresses their common reaction at Hultsfredfestivalen's request and their anticipation of the gig; "When we received the request we thought the arrangement was so unexpected and fun that we had to say yes. For us it's about the joy of rediscovering a favorite album and hopefully it will be the same for the audience. "

 

Gunnar Lagerman is very pleased to have managed to tie The Cardigans to Hultsfredsfestivalen in 2012;

"Our ambition is to offer our visitors unique musical experiences, which we initiated with last year's festival 2011. So it's of course a thrill that we can present one of our biggest swedish bands, with something of this once in a lifetime opportunity! "

 

The idea and the proposal was initiated and brought to the band by Lagerman, which resulted in one of the band selectively chosen tour where they only will perform the music from Gran Turismo. The gig at Hultsfredfestivalen is the only one in Sweden this year, more dates will be announced further on.

 

The Cardigans have not played live in their homeland since 2006, and the bandmembers have been largely engaged in their various individual musical projects. Peter Svensson will not participate on this summer's dates due to family circumstances, and has appointed his deputy for all gigs. The Cardigans have chosen to refrain from any press or interviews before and in connection with

the actual concert, and refers any questions to the organizer.

 

Hultsfred festival takes place in 2012 between June 14 to 16.
